Definition. $v\in V$is a linear combination of elements in $S\subset V$ ${\mbox{ if }}\exists u_{1},\ldots ,u_{n}\in S{\mbox{ and }}a_{1},\dots ,a_{n}\in F{\mbox{ such that }}V=\sum a_{i}u_{i}$
