Peter adds - Indeed there was a mistake in my formulas - the definition of $L$. The second $\beta$ should be $\beta (d,b)$, not $\beta (d,e)$, and the third beta should be $\beta (b,d)f(e)$ not $\beta (e,d)f(b)$ or whatever I said earlier. The other stuff is right.
