I think he actually meant '[math]\displaystyle{ W_J }[/math] of any chord diagram [math]\displaystyle{ = W_J }[/math] of the diagram with a chord replaced with a bridge [math]\displaystyle{ - 2 \times W_J }[/math] of the diagram with the same chord removed'
