Configuration space

$C_{A}^{O}(M)=\{\mathrm {injections} \;f:A\rightarrow M\}$, where $A$ and $M$ are finite set and a topological space respectively, is another way to define the configuration space of $M$. In this definition, the points on $M$ are labelled by the elements of $A$. See [[1]]
