I think he actually meant '<math>W_J</math> of any chord diagram <math>= W_J</math> of the diagram with a chord replaced with a bridge <math> - 2 \times W_J</math> of the diagram with the same chord removed'
I think a more accurate wording would be '<math>W_{j_n}</math> of any chord diagram <math>= W_{j_n}</math> of the diagram with a chord replaced with a bridge <math> - 2 \times W_{j_n}</math> of the diagram with the same chord removed'.

I think a more accurate wording would be ' of any chord diagram of the diagram with a chord replaced with a bridge of the diagram with the same chord removed'.
